Q&A: CAN LOW WATTAGE ENERGY SAVING BULB SAFELY BE USED IN PLACE OF LAMP’S MAX INCANDESCENT EQUIVALENT?

Can low wattage energy saving bulb safely be used in place of lamp’s max incandescent equivalent?
If max wattage on lamp is 60 can I use an energy saver light of less wattage even though that light is brighter than the incandescent 60 watt bulb? Or will the heat from the brighter energy saver he higher and create any fire hazard?

IF I WANT TO BUY AN ENERGY SAVING LIGHT BULB, WHAT WATTAGE WOULD BE EQUIVALENT TO 60W REGULAR BULB?

If I want to purchase an energy saving light bulb, what wattage would be equivalent to 60w regular bulb?
The bulb would be of the fluorescent tube kind, the specifications are sometimes confusing – e.g. 11w=25w and so on.
