1500WATT WIND TURBINE + BATTERIES TO HELP OFFSET UTILITY COST. WHAT EXACTLY DO I NEED FOR THIS TO WORK?
Jun 5th
I have a 1500watt max wind turbine i purchased from ebay. i know that 1500watts is going to be very rare but i want the entire system to be able to handle 1500watts for the “just in case” situations. here what i would like. Wind turbine -> battery pack -> power inverter -> lights/computer/etc. i am new to this and i believe that there is more that i will need. do i need a charge controller and if so where can i find one that handles 1500watts 15.5v 115amps max. if someone could tell me exactly what parts i will need for a easy system i would greatly appreciate it =]

ORANGE LED LIGHT ON DIMMER – IS THIS NORMAL?
Jun 4th
The previous homeowners had two dimmer switches for a series of hanging lights. They were in an illogical order, where the switches were in the opposite order of the lights. I just switched them. Now I see an orange LED light stay on under the knobs. Is this a warning light? These are Lutrons.

LED EQUIVALENT OF THIS LIGHT BULB?
May 27th
12 volt, 18 watt bulbs that I have, I would like to find an LED equivalent for. These are very small halogen (xenon?) bulbs that produce a fair amount of light, only about one inch (1″) long. This looks like what I have now: http://www.buylighting.com/18-Watt-T5-Xenon-Wedge-Light-Bulb-12-Volt-Clea-p/u1001433.htm
Please link me to a specific product or two that I could purchase.
Thank you!

OUR POWER WAS GOING ON AND OFF DURING A WIND STORM THIS WEEK. ?
Apr 24th
Now everything on my 220 line is not working correctly. Dryer is running but not heating. air is running but not cold. microwave is running but not turning. I checked and we do have full power in the lines. What happened?
I used an ohms meter into the outlet and the reading came out at 126 on each side. that is how I teated the power. I borrowed one from someone at work. also none of the breakers are tripped. this makes no sense to me
i put the ohms reader into a 220 outlet each side read around 126 each of resistance. that should mean that I am getting a total of 220 volts correct? I will call an electrician if I have to. I was hoping to fix this on my own hoping it was a no brainer. Thank you for your help but please there is no reason to be mean……Kimberly

GRID TIE-IN HOME WIND GENERATOR, HAVE YOU ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS?
Apr 18th
I’m investigating the feasability of installing a grid tie-in home wind generator. Has anyone here installed one of these systems into their home’s power system?
It’s my understanding that you can install a new power meter to grant for “net metering” or reversing of the numbers by the created power from the generator, thereby saving money or reducing your monthly power bill.

I HAVE JUST READ AN AD FOR POWER4HOME SOLAR PANEL KIT. HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY BOUGHT THIS KIT/BOOKS. IS IT A SCAM?
Apr 7th
I have just read an ad for Power4Home solar panel kit, and was wondering if there is an independent review for it. All the reviews are obviously written by Power4Home themselves, including “comparisons” of other DIY kits. Has anyone actually purchased these books and been able to come close to building a solar panel with “parts available from the hardware store” as claimed? Photovoltaic cells are expensive, yet they claim it can be done for about $200.

HOW CAN I SAVE MONEY ON ENERGY BILLS THIS SUMMER?
Mar 31st
Every summer the energy bills kill us. All of our windows face west and we do not get any breeze. We have an old central air, which does its job but is not very energy efficient.
I’m thinking about buying a new air conditioner, window or portable. Which do you think would be better? (We live in a one bed room apartment which is about 650sqft) Does installing some kind of reflective films on the windows work? I also heard that bamboo sheets can keep you cool at night in bed. Has anyone tried that?
