Hi All,
I live in an apartment in CA and for heating we are using the thermostat that is built in with the apartment. Since we have started using the thermostat, our energy bills have sky rocketed. Is buying and using a Space heater a superior option. If there are any other energy saving options, pls let me know

Could the tether of a space elevator serve to transport electricity to earth from airborne wind turbines ?
Thus, killing two birds with one stone. It could be financed by NASA’s budget and wind power investors with government assistance.
Airborne wind turbines can be attached and reattached to accommodate space vehicles, since they can stay aloft with their own power.
Since wind turbines function more efficiently at higher elevations, but require a tether . It seems to e that the tether could be multi functional and shared by both technologies.
NOPLATE:–Yes I read about the nanotubes, but I thought they had already worked it out. —My bad, but I hope they can pull it off.
I read that LiftPort was able to send a naotube tether up 1000 ft., and is confident that they can go a mile. Still a long way to go, but hopeful.

What energy saving do you get (if any) from using a CFL in a space that you have to heat anyhow?
CFL’s require a much more massive investment over standard bulbs, so how do we select where to use them? If 75% of the energy in a standard light bulb produces heat then should we keep those bulbs in the places that are heated and save CFL’s for places that will not be heated?
