Is it a good idea to shut down my ink jet printer to save energy?
I have an Energy star ink jet printer, but that still draws “phantom” electrical load even when it is in the energy saving sleep state. I was wondering whether shutting it down at night would be a good idea… I was told that shutting the printer could dry up the ink or clog the nozzle, so it is superior to leave the system in sleep mode .

If you just turn off the power to your monitor but leave the cpu running does that save any energy? Does it save more energy to put the personal in hibernate/sleep mode?
