Aside from the obvious of not using appliances, I live in the Las Vegas the temp is in the triple digits so open windows is not much of an option, and turning the thermostat up is not ideal. Any ideas?

In October I installed a 95% variable speed furnace, but have a 30 year old thermostat. My gas bills are still high! My gas company rep stated she had the same thing happen to her, changer her stat to a digital and saved 100/month!!

I am going to be buying a condo, which means I have to purchase new appliances. I have been looking at prices on the web for fridges, dishwashers, stoves, washer/dryers….
How much money would I save if I purchase energy star appliances (fridge, dishwasher, dryer)? Is it worth shelling out the extra bucks for these appliances? They are at least 200$ more costly than the “regular” appliances.
