Question by cardinalrules:
save energy by turning water heater off?
a friend recently told us that he turns the water heater in his home off in the late morning, after taking a shower, and turns it back on early morning, about an hour before he showers. does this actually save energy/money? will doing this damage the water heater?
i know people turn water heaters off during extended periods of time (e.g. vacations), but is the day-to-day solution a good one?

WHAT CAN I DO TO SAVE ENERGY?
Dec 22nd
Question by Puga:
What can I do to save energy?
I will be moving in to my own apartment during the first week of the year. I am 20 years old and have a five month old puppy. I play video games, watch Television and use the personal often. In an apartment, what can I do to keep my energy bill down? I have a Computer as well as a laptop, but I use the Computer far more frequently. Would it be superior to turn the desktop off absolutely when I am not using it? Or just have it enter some sort of energy saving mode? Will running several game consoles be a drain on my energy? HELP!

HOW DO YOU GET A 2 AND 6 YEAR OLD TO SAVE ELECTRICITY?
Dec 21st
Question by hot mama:
How do you get a 2 and 6 year old to save electricity?
I have over $ 100 electric bill and I know that it is just from being careless. They leave doors open, heaters and fans on, each light on when its still sunny out, tvs and personal on just to have them on, even the fridge left wide open. I feel like I am being a constant nag! I know that the 2 year old will not comprehend why but does anyone have any ideas on how to get them to do it (less at least)?
oh my am I REALLY supposed to follow my six year old into the lavatory and sit in his bedroom with him all day. I have a playroom that is safe for children to play in so I dont have to follow them around all day and they dont have to sit in the kitchen with me when I cooking hot food. Okay any one know of any games, songs, rewards for remembering, new ways of explaining to tiny ones why to turn off the lights. I guess that is what I am asking.
Parenting classes? cause I asked for ideas on teaching children to conserve energy? I am a certified daycare provider, I have taken plenty of classes.
