DOES RUNNING ON HEELS SAVE ENERGY?
Dec 19th
Question by J:
Does running on heels save energy?
Does running heel-toe save more energy than running on the balls of your feet or toes?
Also would skipping be faster than walking heel-toe because of the momentum? Would I be able to skip a mile faster than I would run a mile, assuming that I can run 3/4 of a mile before walking and assuming that I could skip through the whole mile?
I do not have speed measurements.

DOES RUNNING A FAN ALL DAY REALLY SAVE MONEY ON ELECTRICITY?
Oct 1st
Question by Marci G:
Does running a fan all day really save money on electricity?
I turned the air conditioner up (to a higher temp, 76 degrees) so that it doesn’t run as much, and have two fans that circulate air around the home that run all the time. Will that really save money?

WILL RUNNING A HOMEMADE WIND TURBINE WITHOUT A LOAD HURT IT?
Sep 24th
Question by dragon_slayer79:
Will running a homemade wind turbine without a load injured it?
I’m in the process of building my first wind turbine and was curious if running it without a load (ie. battery bank) would be harmful to the generators? I am using a 260VDC 5A permanent magnet treadmill motor as the generator. I am about ready to put up my tower and was not sure if I can go ahead and get it all assembled and put up and then add the battery bank as soon as I can get the batteries. This way I could also see how well it’s going to perform on the tower. It’s a 60′ lattice tower and will be hinged at the bottom but still will be a bit of a pain to lower and raise a lot. I am really excited about getting this up and running but do not want to damage anything before I even get started.
Also I have heard of people using old electric baseboard heaters as a load dump when the bank gets fully charged. I am having some trouble locating any of these around here and was wondering if anyone would have any other recommendations on something I could use as a dump? Thanks for all your time.

Question by johnjacob01:
Does Running the furnace fan continuously save energy in the summer?
I’ve heard that it works by cycling cold air from the basement into the home therby keeping the Air Conditioner off. Is this true? Or does running the fan constently burn more energy than it saves?

Q&A: DOES RUNNING YOUR FURNACE FAN CONTINUOUSLY SAVE ENERGY IN THE SUMMER?
Oct 25th
Question by johnjacob01:
Does running your furnace fan continuously save energy in the Summer?
I’ve heard that setting the thermostat to ON will save energy by constently cycling cold air from the basement to the rest of the house, keeping the AC off. Does this work? It would seem that having the Fan run all the time would use more electricity than even just having the Air Conditioning switch on and off.
