POWER ON/OFF ELECTRICAL WATER HEATER TANK TO SAVE ENERGY?

i have a 40 gallon electrical water heater tank at my business. should i turn it on only during business hours (10am-7pm) to save energy?
i thought heat loss from the tank always occurs unless there is something else that i am not aware of.
will it be bad for the water heater tank in the long run if i turn it on/off evryday?
