WHAT ARE SOME REAL, EFFECTIVE, AND REASONABLY PRICED ENERGY SAVING SYSTEMS FOR A NEW CONSTRUCTION HOUSE?
Jul 29th
Question by Malibu Ken:
What are some real, effective, and reasonably priced energy saving systems for a new construction house?

I would like to make it as green as possible, but it has to look like a conventional home (no big solar panels or windmills) and I will not spend a fortune on fringe technology that has no real-world returns. What is the ideal bang for the buck? Geo thermal HVAC? On demand hot water heaters? LED lighting? Any other ideas that are reasonably priced, and produce a real energy savings? (pay for themselves in five years or so…)

WILL A NORMAL HOUSE THERMOSTAT RUN OFF A SOLAR PANEL?
Jun 11th
Question by Sedgy:
Will a normal home thermostat run off a solar panel?
If not, what kind of thermostat should I use? I’d like to assemble a solar powered fan for various projects but the temperature needs to be regulated. I think I can get away with just a 12 volt personal fan and I have found the panel on the web but without the thermostat i’ll be in hot water. Thanks!
