Solar electrical systems use photons to activate the current so the superior you have your cells exposed to this stream of energy the better. Height is relative to your location of course to extend your array out of any shade is a good idea. Most home based solar electric systems are simply mounted on a southern faced roof top but solar cells would actually produce the most electricity if mounted in outer space as on the ISS. Thats pretty high.

Its not the height of solar panel, but the direction of panel that makes it efficient. Height might be considerable for safety and to achieve obstruction free access of sunlight only. If the area is dusty or polluted in air, think about placing it at such a heiht that effects are minimized, but must be safely accessable for periodical cleaning.
