Answer by MR.CRAZY
yes

Answer by victoria c
We tried that last year, used a radiator type heater that plugged in. We have gas furnace and only used it for a few minutes in the morning while showering and fixing lunch in the kitchen and the rest of the time turned it off and only used the small heater in the bedroom. Did not seem to make a huge difference. It was still $ 350!!!! We are currently looking for a new place to live before it gets cold here. Good Luck. It might depend on the size of the room you are trying to heat .

Question by Prisoner:
Has anyone used a solar heating panel system with an Intex pool and filter? Do they work?
Pool store personnel state the solar panel systems will not work because the Intex pool filters will not push enough water thru the system.

——————————————

Answer by mike b
The pool store guy is right. Those intex pumps are junk. Look for a used 1Hp pump or purchase one from Harbor Freight.

You can unplug the Intex pump and use the new pump to push the water through the Intex filter. That is how I did mine. I have to clean the filter more often because the increased water flow.

Someday I will just purchase a sand filter and have a really clean pool.

Question by peterpantimebomb:
How can I make a career in the solar heating / energy field?
I’m working in IT Helpdesk field and no longer interested in this kind of work. I cannot stand sitting at a desk in an office answering phones, e-mails and helping others with their technical problems.

I am very good with technology/computers and want to begin a career in the solar energy field, preferably as a technician working with solar heating and energy.

How can I make this start?

What kind of salary would I be making?

——————————————

Answer by Tom W
I have a very close friend that started a solar business.

He was living in an old Converted School Bus and did not have a job and very tiny money with a wife and children.

This was several years ago. He researched solar panels and purchased a couple on credit and sold them along with instillation cost.

His business grew because he worked hard at it. Spending many hours. Sometimes just barley making expenses.

Now he has the ideal reputation in the business and is highly respected. People come from all over the US to have their RV’s equipped will Solar systems.

Here is a link to his business. It has come a long way from the begining..

http://www.thesunworks.com/index.htm

Are you willing to make the same scarifies he did. If so them you have a very bright carrier ahead of you. The American Dream is still out there and doing well. All one has to do is work for it. Good Luck.

Question by burlingtony:
Would a 7 foot ceiling save energy costs with both heating and air conditioning ??? ( as opposed to a?
standard 8 ft ceiling) I would assume it’s about a 12% reduction in actual cubic footage and I was wondering if it would save you about that much in energy costs ?

——————————————

Answer by Thor
It might save more because heat rises. When I had baseboard electric heat, I thought I would save money by turning them off whenever I was gone. But I found without air circulating all the heat went to the ceiling at first and for a long time until it mixed.

So sitting in a chair I was cold but it was 100F degrees at the ceiling. I found it was cheaper in cold weather to turn it down, not off, so I would not turn it up higher because I felt cold.

And I purchased fans to circulate, mix, the air. That helped.

——————————————
