Question by halofreak1357:
Is it superior to mount a solar panel on a car at an angle or flat?
My class is making an electric car and I need to know if it is superior to mount a solar panel at an angle or flat on the back of the truck we are using. Please cite your sources so I can check your information. Thank you.

Answer by Robbo_op_98
Flat would be the choice as the sun and automobiles are always in motion. By placing it flat no matter the angle or location of the sun the solar panels should be able to create some electricity. You would only angle them if you knew from which direction the sun was coming from.

Question by Laura:
How do those new flat LED street lights save energy ?
In my town they’ve been replacing all the old street lights with those new LED one’s that are flat. They are white and very bright, unlike the old ones that are dim and yellow, so how do they save energy if they are brighter, and why are they flat?

Answer by dooberheim
LED lights are about 20 times as efficient as the old sodium lights. They make a lot more light and a lot less heat for less electricity.

Answer by Barkley Hound
It needs the surface area. If a wire was used you would need panels to focus the light on the wire so no space is saved.
