If I have a three light flourecent light fixture, will removing one light bulb from it save electricity/?
One of my co-workers stated that while removing the light will save on esectricity, the ballast still draws electricity, so removing a single bulb will not be efficient enought to justify labor costs.

In addition to my question, how much would the ballast use adn would it really matter if I removed the light form it? (I would be removing about 250 lights and they are 32 watts each)

It’s more likely to prevent the fixture from working properly, especially if the bulbs are at least partly in series. Much more effective is disconnecting complete fixtures. Early offices were built with very high illumination levels, much more than necessary.

Some of the light fixtures in my home can hold as many as five bulbs. If I only use two or three bulbs will I save electricity?
