Should I power off printer/monitor even if they have energy saving mode?
Hi,
I would like to know whether I need to turn off my printer and monitor even if they have energy saving mode? I know that some web sites recommend turn them off when not in use. I would like to know how much I waste if I let my monitor/printer be in the energy saving mode?
it is a laserjet.

Printer should be shut down if not it use, the heat dries the ink in the nozzles. Monitor can be left on.

Turn off unneeded lights.

Replace incandescent lights with fluorescent bulbs. The new fluorescent bulbs use about 70% less electricity to give the same amount of light. In a cool room they might take up to a full minute to give their full amount of light.

Turn down the heat a few degrees when you are away. Do not turn it down more than 3 or 4 degrees. If you turn it down too much, you will use too much energy to bring the temperature back to normal, eliminating any savings.

NO Turning off the socket has no effect, there must be something plugged into it and “ON ” before there is any effect.

If theres nothing drawing current from the receptacle then turning the breaker off doesnt save any money. Your only charged for electricity thats used not whats in the line.

As long as the appliance is not plugged in, there is no effect to the power consumption by turning the plug off. However many appliances, even when off, will use a small amount of power constantly. Individualy this is so small that it is hardly noticible, but if you keep many things plugged in it adds up.

Even if you do keep them all plugged in the ammount saved on your electric bill by turning off the plugs will be only pennies. Most people do not think its worth the hassle for the savings.

The full cost of wind power looks like about 20 times the cost of power from fossil fuels. For one thing, each wind-turbine needs a complete backup generating system for when the wind is not blowing.

One wants to save energy and they are being told no. The other one is telling people no huge screens because they use too much energy. One by one our rights are being taken away.It is my yard to use the way I want. It is my electric if I can pay the bill stay out of my business and what I buy.

The chick shoulda been able to use the lawn.

And you think it is American to be wasteful and to engorge yourself on extreme excesses.

By the way… you might want to read up on the Television thing. It’s not banning huge TV’s, it’s energy efficiency. They know how to make huge TV’s more energy efficient without costing more. At least 20% of the huge TV’s currently made already adhere to this standard.

And the yard thing, the county is controlled by republicans. 2 R’s on the board 1 D.

Hanging Laundry is Not Illegal in Perkasie

In response to a news article posted on November 18, 2009 on the Reuter’s News Service, Borough Officials in Perkasie make this statement: It is not illegal in any way for residents to hang their laundry in public. There was no “town official” that called Ms. Froehlich to “ask her to stop drying her clothes in the sun”. This fact was confirmed with Ms. Froehlich by phone on the day of the article and she acknowledged that while some neighbors have complained, no one in any official capacity from Perkasie Borough called her about this matter.

there are a lot of say laws that take away some freedom. i think people should be able to do what they want in their own damn yard and be able to purchase and wear what they want elsewhere also

I concur with you but this is just the beginning. Huge government is the culprit. Tiny by tiny they are telling us what we can and can’t do. So many young people think that is fine. They trust the politicians. The rest of us know that huge government is a bad idea and it doesn’t work. They NEVER do anything right. Prepare yourself as it will get much worse with this administration.

I think leaving it on would be better. My logic is that if we were to switch the AC on again (after only 15 mins) it takes up more electricity since it has to regenerate itself again

Why do my energy saving lightbulbs flicker on and off even when i turn them off?
I have three lights in my room and i recently changed them to energy saving bulbs. They are all the same type of bulbs (philip softone 20W effective light to 100W non energy saver) i have two lights mounted on the wall an one in the middle and it has only been the one in the middle that has lit up strangely, only at night i might not have noticed on the walls though. Is this normal?

my thought is that most solar panels charge battery then you use an inverter to produce the 110 volts.

I also have a garage roof peaked, to me wasted space south facing. How much to have someone come and install a system, that perhaps pays for itself in 5 years ? Single guy a lot of personal , one small ac at night,fridge normal stuff
