The 7 watts used for each LED is amazing. Envision 10 lights for a total of 77 watts. That is less than one normal 100 watt bulb. No more changing lights.Wow. The ideal aspect of these bulbs, was the service received from ecoBrites. Once I ordered, the company sent me an e-mail to ask me if I needed an extension because the bulbs I bought were not for the high hats. They sent me the extenders for free. Then I offered to feature them in my Green Open Home Tour on Oct 2nd. Next thing I know, the CEO, Mr Glen Lu, is contacting me and asking If he could come to my open home to bring literature and do some customer, field research. Well, Glen arrived and he brought a few new bulbs that are dimmable LED. He even left literature that offered the open home attendees a 10 % discount by using my name and city. On top of everything else, my wife had seen LED lamps and did not like the light coloration and how it impacted the color of objects illuminated; her fear was that LED lighting in our home would cause the colors of objects to appear unnatural. Well, I could not be more pleased with this product! The fears I had about the angle of light coverage were put to rest quickly. The intensity of light (lumens) exceeded my expectation. And … my wife is happy with the natural lighting and sees no negative impact on perceived coloration. Having stated this, I am ready to replace all my overhead recessed lights. Nice job, ecoBrites. I was looking for a bulb with lower heat output, size that fits, color of similar quality, and about the same amount of light. It also needed to be dimmable. Of the bulbs I bought, this has by far the best color match to the old bulbs. Not quite as warm as the old incandescent bulbs, but close enough for my needs. It is very bright, somewhat more so (by my perception only) than similar PAR 30 bulbs. It also has a diffuser (some others do not) that softens and spreads the light somewhat. Finally, it fit my cans, which some others did not (some others were either just too large, or had the “neck down” in a location that hit my taper, necessitating the use of a bulb socket extender). Only downside is the cost, which is considerable. I pay for my power at least twice, from the watts used and the Air Conditioning pulling out the heat, so that will offset the cost somewhat. If color is not critical, or you just like or need a colder color, some of the cheaper bulbs would work just fine. If not, this is the best choice I have seen so far. I have been waiting for LEDs to become more readily available and recently decided to make the jump by replacing some incandescent PAR30s with LEDs. I went with these ones from ecoBrites, in part because of the sleek and solid design but also because of the price. I have had no problems fitting them in existing light fixtures and have been very pleased with their performance. While the color and intensity for all LEDs I have seen is slightly different from incandescent bulbs these bulbs provide a very nice light… not to mention that it is awesome to cut the power consumption to less than 10%! I also like them to CFLs, in particular because they come on right away and do not have to warm up. These LEDs have exceeded my expectations — I will never go back to incandescent or CFLs! Lastly, the customer service from ecoBrites has been totally spectacular — they really have gone out of their way to make the switch to LEDs a delight. Overall, five stars from me!
