Will drying clothes in an air-conditioned home save electricity?
Drying clothes on a drying rack indoors adds humidity to the air, and humidity inside the home creates extra work for your air conditioner.

However, drying clothes in a clothes dryer uses electricity and warms the air in in the laundry room, again creating extra work for the a/c.

Overall, will hanging your clothes up in an air-conditioned home use more or less energy than a clothes dryer, and by how much?

If I hang my clothes out on the line to save energy how can i keep them soft?
normally air dryer clothes get very stiff but i know i’ll save about $ 50 a month on my power bill by using a clothes line. do you think fabrice softner in the wash will do the trick?

I always dry clothes on the “Delicate” setting on my dryer, thinking that it saves energy because it doesn’t get as hot. Is that true? (For the record, I line-dry more than half of my laundry)
