LOVE THE ENERGY SAVING LIGHT BULBS, BUT A COUPLE OF HAVE EXPLODED AND/OR BURNED OUT IN LESS THAN A YEAR. WHY?
Sep 3rd
Question by Emily Dew:
Love the energy saving light bulbs, but a couple of have exploded and/or burned out in less than a year. Why?
Are these energy saving light bulbs more hazardous than they are worth? The exploding aspect worries me, though I cannot find much written about it. I am seriously considering replacing all of the ones in my home with traditional bulbs, but I know that is going to drive my electric bill up. What are your thoughts or experiences with these bulbs? Thanks!

WOULD ONE OF THOSE SPIRAL ENERGY SAVING BULBS BE OKAY TO USE IN AN UP-LIGHTER WITH AN IN-LINE SWITCH?
Aug 29th
Question by Sir Nathan.King of Hippies:
Would one of those spiral energy saving bulbs be okay to use in an up-lighter with an in-line switch?
I’ve had problems finding a blue bulb with a screw fitting. The only type i can find in blue with a screw fitting is a spiral one. It is energy saving so would be great providing it’s safe to use in the type of lamp i have?
It just states not tu use with dimmer switches.
I have white spiral bulbs in all my main light fittings and they are fine in those.

Q&A: DO ENERGY SAVING LIGHT BULBS HARM YOUR EYES AND VISION?
Aug 18th
Question by Spicey:
Do energy saving light bulbs harm your eyes and vision?
I recently installed a few of the energy saving light bulbs. The one on the kitchen ceiling made me nautious at first. I have heard they cause headaches and make some people vomit. I also heard that they have many beams of light coming out of them, instead of just one or a few. How can they NOT be harmful if people are having these effects from them.

Aug 3rd
Question by syuol:
Why do all the energy saving light bulbs (fluorescent?) state not to use them with electric timers?
It seems like all the energy saving bulbs state on the package never to use with electric timers and I cannot figure why. My sister has used them with timers and it appears they burned out rather quickly. Whats the difference between having a timer turn the light on at a certain time and just flipping the switch?

ENERGY-SAVING FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS – DO THEY USE LESS ENERGY IF SWITCHED ON FOR ONLY A MINUTE?
Jul 12th
Question by keni:
Energy-saving fluorescent light bulbs – do they use less energy if switched on for only a minute?
I heard that they use a kick of energy when you first switch them on, then use a lot less while they stay on. Is the initial amount more than, state a normal 60w bulb? If so, what is the length of time where the two use the same amount of energy? This is not an exam question – I just want to know if it is worth using energy-saving bulbs where they are used frequently for short periods of time – cupboards, bathrooms etc.
