I recently acquired a solar panel and charge regulator. I was hoping to use while at this week long camping/music festival thing in the summer. My friends always kill their batteries charging their phones and such. I was planning on connecting the panel and regulator to the battery with alligator clips. How long does it take to recharge a automobile battery with a wind turbine?
I’m planning to build a catamaran from two surfboards, attach a DC pump motor, put a seat on it and a wind turbine (500W) and make this thing my commuter boat. It needs to cover 8 miles in under an hour and back, and I hope to recharge it over night using the wind turbine only (the thing will be moored in Otago Harbour, southern New Zealand, and I am planning to swim out to it in the mornings using a wetsuit).
How many batteries do you reckon I need, how huge an engine do I need to get up to about 10 knots, and how many wind turbines are necessary to recharge this thing over night?

i am looking to build a small solar generator to power a few lights and so forth, i have a deep cycle gel automobile battery, but what watt and volt solar panel would i need to charge it in an efficient amount of time? also, is it possible to hook up 2 small solar panels to one battery to charge it or would that not work? like would 2 5 watts be as good as a 10 watt?
