how we can reduce the vibration if we install wind turbine on the telcom tower – bcoz of the vibration link and coverage will fluctuate so how we can minimize it please guide me !

Answer by freesiaoriental
Vibration is not so different from the movement of an earthquake…
Why do not you look into research done by the Japanese engineers?
There is a way to manipulate the foundations of the turbine or whatever it is so that the shaking will not affect anything it’s attached to.

Answer by Bob
Don’t worry about the vibration, first think about how you will deal with the horizontal forces imposed by the wind on the turbine blades, this will be transferred to the telecom tower and try to push it over.

Question by peter out:
In a wind turbine, what is the ratio of the input wind speed (to the turbine) to the output windspeed?
If we had 2 wind turbines one directly ahead of the other, would the wind exitting from turbine 1 produce the same power in turbine 2?

——————————————

Answer by rsdudm
Depends on the diameter and pitch of the blades.

Answer by bill
i would assume so, if there was no friction or drag acting on the second one, and All of the air from the first one hit the second one…..but there is friction and drag, im saying no

Answer by enginerd
obiously, the “energy” in the wind exiting a turbine is less than the energy of the wind entering the turbine by the amount of work done by the turbine plus losses.

the reduced energy is manifested in properties of the exiting wind including velocity

the change in velocity will depend on the orginal velocity, the size and design of the turbine, the load (say electrical generator or whatever) on the turbine and other factors

——————————————
how much does a wind turbine cost for a small town.

——————————————

Answer by jetrx_1011
I recently saw an article on Yahoo news about a guy that purchased a wind turbine for personal use. He spent around $ 65k. He figured it would take about 8 years to pay for itself.
That might give you an idea on what to expect.

Answer by GABY
I work a lot in west Texas. They have thousands of them. Most of them are about 1.25 MW, and cost about $ 2,000,000-$ 3,000,000 each. That would probably serve about 80-100 houses when producing full power. Of course, you would need another source when the wind is not blowing over 6-7 MPH.
They also pay the land owner about $ 3000/yr lease payments. I do not know what the cost of connecting it to the grid, all the environmental permits, etc. would be.

Pretty costly power, but would be good for the environment.

Answer by j p
GABY’S answer is correct.

I knew of the price of 1.5 million Dollars per wind turbine, but in this price range a tiny more or less is rather insignificant, since those who dream about this could not afford to purchase one in the first place.

GABY please e-mail me the location of the retirement community in Mexico. I have been playing with the thought to retire down there myself, like so many others. It certainly would cost a lot less living there. Thanks in advance, JP.

like those wind turbines that make energy. because it is basically the opposite. it takes energy and turns it into wind. a turbine takes wind and turns it into energy. how can i do this?

——————————————

Answer by billrussell42
Depends on the type of motor the fan has. Only DC PM (Permanent Magnet) motors will also work as a generator.

.

Answer by sweeti_butt
It depend on the size of the motor that is connected on the other end of the turbine. If you have small fan then you use small motor and get small power! But I do not think it will be an economical to produce electricity with fan, the reason is that you are using fan which is running with electricity, so first brief your question then I will clear you.

Answer by gintable
Wind turbine blades are specifically designed differently than fan blades, because it is more optimal to taylor the design to the application, even though in theory they have opposite energy conversions and could be geometrically identical.

The same is true with the motor and generator. Motors and generators both work in either direction, but they work superior when operated in the direction for which they were specifically designed.

How do I do this? DON’T!

Get a wind turbine and get an electric generator, both specifically designed for the application intended.

——————————————

Question by ankita.iitm:
how to generate electricity by wind up action(just like in toys)?
THE DEVICE SHOULD STOP THE ELECTRICITY GENERATION WHENEVER WE LIKE AND WE WOULD BE ABLE TO USE THE REMAINING UNWINDING TO GENERATE ELECTRICITY SOME OTHER TIME
not wind turbine but wind up action like in toys where u wind up and due to the unwinding of spring toy performs an action (here by unwinding action we have to rotate a shaft)

——————————————

Answer by akhi@India
Well
Anything which can produce a force enough to rotate the shaft of dynamo or generator, can produce electricity.

Using wind up action:-
search for the spiral spring which should high torsion. Or torsional constant.

Unfortunately there are no such springs in spiral which can sustain the rotation of shaft for a quite significant time.
Because
1 they are too spacy.
2 no such material which should have very high torsional constant.
3. Complicated rotatory motion.
Initially very fast then slow and slower.
And do not let to provide uniformity in production.

For your model.
Search any huge toy and remove the appraus (coil + its base support+ key shaft + action shaft.)

and buy the dynamo which is equal to the motor used in tape recorders to draw casette reel.

Connect the action shaft of the apparatus to the shaft of dynamo. Also check for the rotation both should have motion in same direction whether clockwise or anticlockwise.

Make a hole in apparatus. From which you can control the rotation of inner wheel inside the apparatus.
This will ensure you when to use and when to put off.

I hope you will undertand.
If not then kindly write me mail i’ll send you some picture which will enable you comprehend very easily.

Question by :
What do environmentalists think about wind energy?
Do they think it’s a good idea or against it?

——————————————

Answer by Shivaprasad
Of ,course. The environmentalists think the wind energy is a good idea. Because, the wind energy is really useful & also not a harm to the environment . Here is a brief account on the uses of wind energy:
For hundreds of years mankind has been making use of the energy and power generated by wind. Whether it has been to travel the world, manufacture products, or in the modern age to generate electricity, wind has provided the means. And while there have been dozens of different methods over the years, new technology is still being invented to make even further use of this ancient power source.
Modern Uses
The most common use of wind energy in the modern day is to generate electricity. Giant windmills, often built in fields called wind farms, provide a portion of the world’s energy.
Benefits
Wind farming, sailing ships and other windmills all share a massive number of similar benefits. The energy they produce is absolutely clean (pollutant free), comes from a renewable source and requires no fuel.

Answer by Steve
Of course they think it is a great idea (until the wind stops blowing), its so clean and great for the wildlife too (except for the birds who get killed by the blades).

Answer by Nancy
Wind energy ranks up there with solar energy and hydropower. Wind Energy is defined as the “power generated by harnessing the wind, usually by windmills”

In scientific terms, wind energy is the “force” of winds blowing across the earth’s surface (“Wind Energy”).

Wind is caused by uneven heating on the earth’s surface. The equator region receives more heat than say, Antarctica.

That heat tries to move from hotter to colder regions. Wind energy was first harvested centuries ago, when early windmills were used to power millstones, pumps, and forges

Wind energy systems generate electrical energy by harnessing the power in wind using machines called wind turbines. Wind energy can be produced in stand-alone applications or can be produced centrally and distributed to the electric grid.
