Is it true that you save no money on electricity if you leave it on standby?
I heard somewhere, cannot quite remember when or where, that a TV for example on standby takes up just as much power as it would do if it were on. I tried searching google but nothing came up. Anyone know if this is right or wrong?

Im not huge on politics, but my friend states its cause the government is corrupt, and these companies fund politicians and there parties, therefore solidifying themselves whether they are good for the people, environment and the world in general or not

If it takes 10 minutes to preheat my oven, what can I do to save energy?
While it preheats, might I put the fish sticks in, or will they be mushy?
This is just an example. I realize that casseroles, baked potatoes, and such can be put in then, but what about the rest?
It is a 5 month old gas range. I seldom use the oven these days, but when I do, there are usually at least two different meals cooked as long as I am using the oven.
A baked potato is just not the same from the microwave as the oven.
