Q&A: IS THE ENERGY-SAVING FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULB WHICH GIVES ME NEEDLESS TIPS ON Q&A REPRESENTATIVE OF DIM IDEAS?
Sep 4th
Question by Master ß :
Is the energy-saving fluorescent light bulb which gives me needless tips on Q&A representative of dim ideas?
I mean, the original “bright” idea used a standard incandescent light bulb. Does Yahoo’s use of the energy-saving one mean that they anticipate people to be a tiny less bright when they participate in Yahoo Answers?

LOVE THE ENERGY SAVING LIGHT BULBS, BUT A COUPLE OF HAVE EXPLODED AND/OR BURNED OUT IN LESS THAN A YEAR. WHY?
Sep 3rd
Question by Emily Dew:
Love the energy saving light bulbs, but a couple of have exploded and/or burned out in less than a year. Why?
Are these energy saving light bulbs more hazardous than they are worth? The exploding aspect worries me, though I cannot find much written about it. I am seriously considering replacing all of the ones in my home with traditional bulbs, but I know that is going to drive my electric bill up. What are your thoughts or experiences with these bulbs? Thanks!

Aug 31st
Question by TomLover:
Some really cheap & effective ways to save energy?
I have a few ways to save money and energy (use fluorescent bulbs, use rags instead of paper towels) but are there any more? And if so, what are some REALLY good ways of motivating people to do these things? Like, I know people will use fluorescent light bulbs because they last longer and they save a lot of money.

WITH CENTRAL AC, DOES IT SAVE MORE ELECTRICITY TO LEAVE THEM ON ALWAYS OR SET TO AUTO?
Aug 30th
Question by real_ki:
With Central AC, does it save more electricity to leave them on always or set to auto?
I have a central A/C unit in a two story house.
We usually set the temperature to 80F and set the fan to “Auto” which basically turn on the fan and the cooling when temperature goes above the set temperature.
There’s also “On” setting for the fan which will keep the fan running always and I assume the cooling too maybe?(or maybe the cooling is turned on when temperature goes above the set temperature).
Which will save more electricity? Setting the fan setting to “auto” or “on”?

WOULD ONE OF THOSE SPIRAL ENERGY SAVING BULBS BE OKAY TO USE IN AN UP-LIGHTER WITH AN IN-LINE SWITCH?
Aug 29th
Question by Sir Nathan.King of Hippies:
Would one of those spiral energy saving bulbs be okay to use in an up-lighter with an in-line switch?
I’ve had problems finding a blue bulb with a screw fitting. The only type i can find in blue with a screw fitting is a spiral one. It is energy saving so would be great providing it’s safe to use in the type of lamp i have?
It just states not tu use with dimmer switches.
I have white spiral bulbs in all my main light fittings and they are fine in those.
