you could use fans instead of your central air,and keep your curtains closed in the windows you don’t have fans in.reflective films on the window i hear does help.nothing about the bamboo sheets though.

The key is to keep the IR enegry from the sun out of the house. Replace window with Low E glass, or use a low E reflective film. A small window unit air conditioner may help as you can use it to cool only the room you use the most. Also, close AC vents in rooms that are not in use.

Keeping the shades drawn in the day to keep out sunlight helps. Open the shades and windows at night to let cool air, it will help keep the house cool during the day. Yes, bamboo sheets do having a cooling effect, even more though is a bamboo mat that lays on top of your mattress. Many Chinese people sleep directly on them but putting a sheet on top will not alter its affect. As for a window a/c, that depends on where you live and what floor you live on.

More info is needed to answer this question but I’ll tell you somethings that probably will help. Yes E- films for windows reduce the waves of sunlight from heating the rooms.Overhangs help block sunlight in summer and let the sun collect in the winter for added heat. Also just as caulking around windows and cutting down drafts, and insulating helps save heat – it also keeps heat out. The prior usually is the problem. You should also clean heat exchangers on your air conditioning unit just like a furnace filter it will work better. Have the system checked for freon and proper pressures. Most small window air conditioners cost more to operate because they are smaller and can’t keep up with infiltration and exfiltration.
