There is a big yellow label on all new energy star appliances that gives you this information and you can view them at the store. The amount of energy/money saved is different for most brands.
As far as saving you money, it’s pretty simple. You can pay less now and pay higher power bills for the life of the appliance (and don’t forget that those bills are likely to go up over time with rate increases) or pay more now and pay less on power for the life of the appliance.

In addition, look for rebates that the power or gas utility companies run in your area. It will even out the difference somewhat.
I’m a big proponent of buying the most energy efficient appliance available. With ENERGY STAR you will usually see a return on the investment after 2-5 years depending on appliance.
