No providing you save your washing up in one go, the dishwasher is a terrible waste of energy.

Run the machine only when fully loaded, and you can turn off the heated dry cycle, it may leave a few little water spots on dishes, but that is the energy sucker, the dry cycle.

I only run a full load of dishes so for a family of 4 that’s usually a full load every other day… I run my dishwasher at night on time delay, so it starts around 4am, when electric is cheaper and the hot water is hot and no one is using it… Also, to save electric… I only run one major appliance at a time.. I do laundry at night and I will run either the washer/dryer, but not both.. So, usually I will run a load of wash, put in the dryer and start… While the dryer is drying I’m pretreating and soaking the next load.. I find that this works for me….I save approximately $75 a month on my electric bill…. Good luck

I personally don`t think that a dishwasher is an energysaver, it`s just a ploy to get u to buy one. Personally I prefer washing my dishes by hand. I hate piling up of dishes and that in itself do not seem to be hygienic. Dishwashers should be used by large households or businesses.

The only energy you save is your own. It takes much less effort to load and unload a dishwasher than it does to handwash all of your dishes.
As far as utitlity bills go, it takes more energy to run a dishwasher than it does to wash dishes by hand. It uses electricity, water (if you use well water, it takes more electricity to run the pump that pulls the water out of the ground), as well as the hot water heater. Washing by hand uses only the electricity for water(only if you are using a well and not on city water) and the hot water heater.
