Question by Emily Dew:
Love the energy saving light bulbs, but a couple of have exploded and/or burned out in less than a year. Why?

Are these energy saving light bulbs more hazardous than they are worth? The exploding aspect worries me, though I cannot find much written about it. I am seriously considering replacing all of the ones in my home with traditional bulbs, but I know that is going to drive my electric bill up. What are your thoughts or experiences with these bulbs? Thanks!

I’ve had the same thing happen after only a few months of use. The smoke that comes out of them when they burn out smells really bad too. I was wondering how these costly bulbs could do that too but I do not want to change because my bill went way down when I switched over.
