Question by doodoodumb:
Can solar panel and wind turbine generator system run continuously for 6 month or longer?

I am planning on building a solar panel and a wind turbine that run in one generator. I just want to know if the generator can run for 6 month straight or longer? Anyone with some advices I would appreciated.

Hello,
There is no reason not to run either year round.
I do not know the specifics of your turbine design, here are a couple of points to ponder:
The turbine should be weather resistant, have some sort of over speed protection by tipping back perhaps spring loaded, turning out of the wind, feather the propeller blades(complicated), watching that the blades do not ice up which might cause unbalance & tear it apart.

The solar can be used year round but might be less useful in winter & need snow removal. Ideally should track the sun but if tilted to the suns average direction (southerly).
Good luck & have fun.
