Buy the whole flashlight brand new for $23 (free shipping available) instead of this cheap spare part. Mag-Lite ST3D016 3-D Cell LED Flashlight, Black . The Maglite LED bulb is at least twice as good as this overpriced cheap replacement. I Thought this would be a better bulb than the actual maglite LED, I was wrong. It’s weaker and a yellow color. This bulb should be priced at $8.50, thats about how much it seems its worth. DON”T BUY THIS BULB. YOU CAN PAY THE SAME AMOUNT FOR THE BRAND NEW FLASHLIGHT AND THE NEW FLASHLIGHT HAS A STRONGER AND BETTER BULB!!! This replacement bulb doesn’t focus correctly at all. Big dark circles in the center of the light. Sure it beats the old incandescent bulb, but seriously, you’ll get a way better deal with the new maglite from Amazon.com than buying this half rate bulb. My brand new 3-D LED Maglite is great, my old Maglite with this new bulb is still kinda sucky.

I purchased this from another vendor to replace the factory bulb in a MagLite I’ve owned for years and have replaced probably 3 standard bulbs along the way. The amount of light and ability to focus the beam is amazing. When the manufacturer says not to look into the beam of light, they aren’t joking. I haven’t had this for long so I’m not sure how long the LED will last, only going by what the manufacturer says. So it should be many years. I did try some junky NiMH rechargable D size batteries from Ray O Vac with this LED and 2-D MagLite. They lasted about 30 minutes fully charged before flickering the LED and finally shutting down. (Note that it doesn’t dim, just shuts down when batteries are low). I’m guessing I’ll get a lot more time with regular alkaline batteries though since I’ve read, and seem to be experiencing, that the Ray O Vac NiMH D batteries have a low capacity C type battery inside the D casing… cute. Anyway, I’m hooked on this upgrade. If the cost was a little less I’d be even happier, but considering the light output the cost made it worth it for me. I have read that these LEDs can also heat up pretty good and fog the inside of a Mag when used for longer periods and in certain weather. I haven’t experienced this yet, haven’t tested it that far yet. That may be in the larger 4-6 cell flashlights also?

I upgraded my three “D” cell Maglite with this LED module from Terralux…. Terralux uses the “Cree” technology LED in this module, which gives the highest lumen output you can get. Quite frankly, it is blinding to look at directly. The beam is tight, colorless white, with great penetration and preserves the focusing ability of the Maglite.
Don’t mess around with any other LED package for your Maglite, get this one. You will not be disappointed.

Review by Oscar Garcia for TerraLUX TLE-6EXB MiniStar5 140 Lumens Extreme LED Replacement Bulb for 2-3 C&D Cell MagLites

I recently unearthed an incandescent Maglite 2-D cell that I thought had been lost. It still had fairly new batteries in it, but since I have been spoiled by several other LED flashlights I have recently acquired, the old Maglite just wasn’t as bright as I would like it to be. I did some research online and found that there are several online forums dedicated to the discussion of flashlights. Some forum members even take the time to scientifically evaluate light output using high-tech equipment. I then discovered that TerraLUX makes a simple drop-in LED for my model of Maglite.
I ordered the upgrade from a vendor other than Amazon, but I can say that it is a significant improvement in brightness over the incandescent Maglite bulb. The packaging claims 140 lumens, and from a flashlight technology novice’s perspective, I’d say that it is on par with a Coast/LED Lenser flashlight I own that claims around 140 lumens. In addition, LEDs are significantly more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs, which stretches battery power better than old bulbs. Furthermore, LED’s won’t break if you drop the flashlight.
A good investment, in my opinion.

Hello world
This is led upgrade for maglite. Bought three of these and all work just fine. Really worth the price.
Thought picture of TerraLUX TLE-6EXB is wrong in amazon.com when i write this. That picture is for models 4-6. Not 2-3.
