Question by syuol:
Why do all the energy saving light bulbs (fluorescent?) state not to use them with electric timers?

It seems like all the energy saving bulbs state on the package never to use with electric timers and I cannot figure why. My sister has used them with timers and it appears they burned out rather quickly. Whats the difference between having a timer turn the light on at a certain time and just flipping the switch?

Never heard of that with a timer. Timers are used commericially for fluorescents. I know that you are not supposed to use a dimmer with fluorescent lamps, unless the fixture has a dimming ballast.
