MY MANAGER AT WORK IS TRYING TO SAVE ELECTRICITY BY SWITCHING OFF THE LIGHTS IN THE OFFICE.?

My manager at work is trying to save electricity by switching off the lights in the office.?
But whenever they get switched off someone goes in and switches them on again ! does this save electricity by constantly switching the flourescent lights on and off ?

no you are most likely wasting more energy and electricity by turning it on and off so much. if it stays off for like 30 mins, then someone turns on for lets state 1 min, and off again for another 30mins or an hour, thats a superior way then non stop, on 1 min, next min off, and so on.

Depends on how long it’s off versus how long it’s on. While it’s off, it’s using zero electricity; while it’s on, it’s using max electricity. If it’s off more than it’s on, it is saving money for electricity.
Whether or not it’s burning out the bulbs sooner by cycling on and off more often is another story.
